Speaker: LeAnn Lopez, Special Agent Colorado Attorney General Office Consumer Protection Section

This training provides a concise overview of consumer protection and consumer fraud, emphasizing how these crimes impact individuals and businesses. Through a real-world case study, participants will examine a multi-agency investigation involving fraudulent vehicle titles traced to a Denver-based company producing realistic “novelty” documents.

  • Stolen Vehicles were re-keyed
  • Retitled – using fraudulent documents
  • Sold and unsuspecting buyers
  • Prosecutorial challenges
  • Investigative strategies, fraud detection and collaborative enforcement efforts
